The castles of Cyprus are considered an attraction not to be missed when visiting Cyprus.

Although small in size (in fact often they are towers or small fortresses), all the castles are very beautiful and different from each other.

Since ancient times, Cyprus has been a center of attraction for many civilizations.

Thanks to its unique geographical position, the island has played a crucial role in the history of the eastern Mediterranean. This made it necessary to build towers and fortifications to defend the territory.

Apart from its geographical position, over the centuries several conquerors passed from Cyprus, such as the Egyptians, the Assyrians, Alexander the Great, the Romans, the Crusaders, the Lusignans and various others.

On the south side of Cyprus the castles are:

- the castle of Larnaca

- the castle of Limassol

- the Kolossi castle

- the Paphos castle
