The Troodos mountains are located in the middle of the island and are easily accessible from anywhere on the island. The highest peak, Mount Olympus, rises to almost 2000 meters above sea level.

The Troodos Mountains were created during the complex seabed emergence process through tectonic movements related to the collision of the Eurasian plate in the North and the African plate in the South. This process made Cyprus a geological model for researchers around the world, contributing to a better understanding of the development of the oceans and the planet in general.

Among the most popular villages are the main mountain resorts of the Troodos - Platres mountains, the picturesque village of Kakopetria, Pera Pedi and Foini, the highest village in Cyprus - Prodromos, the main village in the Pedoullas area where cherries are grown, Kalopanagiotis famous for its sulphurous springs and beneficial effects on digestive disorders, skin and rheumatic diseases, and Agros famous for its rose water, its quality fruit and excellent structure for sports training. The picturesque village of Omodos is one of the most famous wine villages in the area and is home to the monastery of Timios Stavros, now the whole village is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
